What is Poetry?

Hmmm…..

Words?
It’s an expression of the mind.
It’s writing… to yourself, without feeling weird
That you’re writing…
To yourself?

It’s music.
Lyrics without the rhythm,
Rap without the dynamics,
A genre without the technique

So yeah,
I guess it’s just words.
Just words. To avoid the distraction
Just words. To get the message across
Just words, to speak to you, me and my maker.

Yes again, I guess I’m saying…Just words

But,
Through His spirit, may these words flow from our lips,
Written in scripture, may it draw out a picture,
Painted only, with the brush of faith.

And,
As poetic priests,
Having been created in history,
We proclaim the victory
That only words in God’s spirit
Define the very best Poetry
